For those of you who would like to know a bit more about me,
                                                below is an extended biography

I have over 15 years formal experience in the hairdressing industry and am extra 12 years informally yet  intentionally focused on hairstyling skills.

I began meticulously learning & homing her hairstyling skills at the age of 6 in 1984 when she declared her new career as a Hair Stylist to her mother. For 11 years she practised and tweaked her styling skills alone on people she knew, until her fingers were strong, her visual balance near perfect and her hair tension even.

At 17 she started Official Training in Hair styling at Vidal Sassoon’s Academy off Bond Street the original Vidal Sassoon’s in Classical, Creative & Avant Garde Cutting at Wella as a Colour Technician.

Picture
She also took her Level 2 City and Guilds Certification (Even at city college in her first 6 months into the course she Won the Charles Worthington Creative Hair Cutting award at a college competition judged by The Charle's Worthington tea, and other top salons, CW was the UK most prestgious stylist at that time in the 1990’s alongside Nicky Clarke

shecontinued from the first full-time year of City and Guilds to study the same course part time while embarking on two full term apprenticeships one following the other In specialist salons one apprenticeship in a creative, street and eccentric avant-garde shop, where standards were excellent and individual and yet still a friendly, and welcoming shop an excellent start with a manager who had arrived from Australia with nothing but his scissors, his great hairdressing talents and a passionate vision for a new type of hairdressing service that excelled in fashionable commercial looks for customers.

Picture
The next apprenticeship and most dominating influence involved being strictly trained with one of the ex- director of Vidal Sassoon’s previous side station working partner's in a beautiful high- grade, classical, specialist salon located in a grand 15th century core , re-built 17th century building previously a townhouse of the mayor 300 years prior,  where excellence was paramount as was technicality.

she was taught to techinical perfection in colouring and also in cutting. groomed here in wig dressing for Italian opera singers, wigs and hair pieces for theatre and dance productions, adding human hair extension pieces for brides and bridal groups and vintage styling.

The vintage styling  included pin-curls, marcel-waves, and styling of the 1920’s, 30’s, 50’s and 60’s. She found a new natural talent that Paul-Ridley-Scott-Thomas one of
the owners with his business partner Ruth nurtured, formal hair-up
creations.

When she came to Soho Heath Lavingdale (Heath now owns FEEL Soho) groomed her men's hairdressing
finishing off to the standard he was famous for in the select cosmopolitan salons of Melbourne. Heath inspired Zed with his empathy with the clients
tuning more into the client desires and needs with attention to fine detail to transform a great style into an amazing one.

It was at this salon that a blend of diverse creative methods integrated with the classical knowledge that she already had creating a very flexible response for a huge variety of different clients with different hair and different images. It was also a space where she was given free range of her avant-garde cutting and colouring as clients came to soho often at this time looking for something unique.

she quickly developed a vast and very varied clientele in Soho, including some of the fashion pack from St Martins, a group of young jet-setter girls from a fashion and music school in Manhattan New York, Directors and film editors desiring the look of the street fashion,  groups of Chinese and Japanese & indian people as the word spread that sheunderstood how to cut the hair texture and create fashionable styles with oriental & indian hair and some celebrity’s including musical artists from Pop groups and rockstars, the ‘Brian’ character from ‘spaced’, and Mackenzie Crook of the ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ Films and various actresses.

After working with Heath, she then moved onto work for Franco Della-Graz. She was given free choice of the large Flagship salon in Clerkenwell or the then Classical Boudoir style shop in Soho, she choose Both and Franco agreed to the set-up forher exclusively feeling her creativity and new ideas were in line with his vision for the future, all other new stylists were stationed at Clerkenwell Only.

Franco Della-Grazie then groomed her in Session styling, catwalk, extensive razoring, high grade bridal, evening Styling on location and creative direction For fashion, trade, & session Hairstyling for photo-shoots and show work.

It was with Franco Della Grazie that a passion for Hair extensions began to expand with her knowledge of different applications and adapting and tailoring extensions to the personality and needs of the individual, She became immaculate and renowned in her application of hand created Bespoke hair extensions using Balmain of Paris Designer hair ,Village sourced Indian hair, Brazilian hair bought direct and hand sourced Russianvirgin hair. Hair extensions were often used for hair shows also to create the longest and fullest most impressive of Hairstyles on the runways, Standards were exceptional due the competive aspect of Shows competing with the Handful of worldwides most respected Hair Stylists.

Later in her career she went on to freelance in a slect Covent Garden salon side by side her original Vidal Sassoon’s Bond Street Academy tutor Cher whom frequently requested her opinion on her clients colours and styles, having been inspired by her experience and depth of knowledge combined with approach. At this point her realised she had come full circle and felt ready to move towards total independence as an Exclusive Stylist in her own right.

Zed has had her work as a Two page Centre Spread in the biggest hair Trade magazine in the world ‘Creative head’, done Hair and Creative Direction for the second largest trade magazine ‘Hairdressers Journal’, had photos in Glamour magazine, for famous musicians, &done hair and make-up for Fashion editorial campaigns and look books for designers and continues to offer her 24 years of experience, personal individuality, attention to detail and specialised knowledge.
